Top 5 baby shower games

The build up to having a baby can be a magical time. Along with the flurry of preparation, there’s a burst of energy and excitement for both the mom-to-be and everyone surrounding her. It’s a time of celebration, and there’s no way better to celebrate than a baby shower.

If you’re going to host a great baby shower, you’ll need some baby shower games. Here, in no particular order, are the top 5 baby shower games to make sure your baby shower is fun and fabulous:

1. Feed your Baby
Get your blindfolds ready and pair up your guests. Feed the baby requires you to divide your friends and family into teams of two. Give each team a jar of baby applesauce and a small baby spoon. Each person on the team is blindfolded, and  they feed the applesauce to each other at the same time. While they are feeding each other, mark their time. The quickest team to feed each other wins.

2. Don’t say Baby
It’s pretty hard not to talk about the new arrival at a baby shower, but this baby shower game involves zipping your lips and not saying the trigger word ‘baby.’ As your guests arrive, tag them with a large diaper pin. The instructions are simple – Just don’t say the word ‘baby.’ If someone hears you saying it, they can steal your pin. The person who has the most pins wins a prize at the end of the baby shower.

3. What’s in the bag?
A fun game to play after snacks have been served, to play ‘What’s in the bag?’ you’ll need to place at least 10 baby items in a bag. Use things like pacifiers, teething rings, diapers, and bibs, and pass the bag around to your guests. Each person will feel around inside and see how many items they can identify without looking in the bag, and then write them down on a piece of paper. Whoever has the most correct answers wins.

4. Diaper Derby
What’s it feel like to be a baby? Now your guests can find out. All you need to play diaper derby is a couple of tolls of toilet paper. Divide your guests into teams of two, give them each a roll, and have them wrap each other up to create a diaper. The team with the best diaper wins!

5. Pin the baby on the Mommy
A nice twist on Pin the Tail on the Donkey, this involves you blowing up a big photo of the new mom in all her pregnancy glory. Each guest is blindfolded and given a cut out of a baby. Spin them around a few times, and see how close they get to pinning the baby on the new mom. Whoever gets the perfect placement wins a prize.

Is a second baby shower a no-no?

There were cupcakes a-plenty, and gift bags bursting with parcels wrapped in baby blue. It was a lovely day, organised by two wonderful girlfriends, and full of giggles and quizzes and silly games. It was my baby shower, held about a month before my son was born. The question is, now that I'm pregnant again and living far from home, in London, do I have another one?

In my first pregnancy I hadn't given any thought to having a baby shower until two friends asked me when it would be. Surprised that I didn't have an answer, they decided they would hold one for me, and all I needed to do was pick the date. How could I say no?
"It all added to the excitement of a first pregnancy. Plus, it felt right to celebrate how lucky I was to be having a baby" ... Kiran Chug
So one sunny day they turned up at my house, laden with flowers and home-baked treats and games, and they and the other guests all spoiled me rotten. I'm not going to deny it: it was a real treat, and I enjoyed every moment of being told to put my feet up while someone else served the food and drinks, and even washed up and tidied up the kitchen afterwards. My girlfriends spoiled me with luxurious presents for me to pamper myself with, presents for the baby, and bags full of useful items that I'll be using again this time round.
The event all added to the excitement of a first pregnancy. It felt like I was joining a special club, a baby club, and this was the welcome party. Plus, it felt right to celebrate how lucky I was to be having a baby...Read More

Moms to be and their friends can get high quality baby shower invitations, birth announcements and more for free simply by including a coupon on the back of the card.

The online card company, company, Pure Hoopla, was founded by Cobb County Entrepreneur Melissa Minahan in January.

Her shower invitations, birth announcements and other custom designed cards sell for slightly under $1.00 each but customers can also order them for free by adding a few coupons to adorn the back of the card.  Cost conscious shoppers can drag up to six coupons from a selection available at PureHoopla.com.  "You choose the coupons that you want, so its almost like a recommendation from the mom or the shower host to their circle of friends," explained Minahan.

Those who prefer not to feature coupons on their cards can pay for them instead, at prices Minahan says are competitive with other high quality stationery companies.
